Spirit and Love Driven Prayer - Romans 15:30

I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for all in need.

Key Thought

The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we pray (Rom. 8:26-27). The Holy Spirit pours love into our hearts to give us hope and endurance (Rom. 5:5). So it shouldn't surprise us that the love we have from the Holy Spirit moves us to pray for others in their struggles. Praying for others, what is sometimes called intercessory prayer, is a great gift empowered by the love that comes from the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives. Paul wanted this Spirit and love driven prayer to focus on his desire to proclaim Jesus, something we've focused on for several days. However, this Spirit and love driven kind of prayer can be offered for almost anything that another brother or sister in Christ needs. Let's remember that the love we feel for others and the prayer we are given by the presence of the Spirit are there to gift us and equip us to pray for others!

Today's Prayer

Today, Father, I want to pray for a number of folks on my heart who face struggles of all kinds. Some are family members ... some are friends ... some are faithful servants of your Kingdom doing your work in hard places ... some are grieving ... some face tough times ... some are making hard decisions ... some have family struggles ... some have great opportunities they don't want to miss ... some are overcoming addictions ... and there are many others. Please hear my prayer for them today. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, if a person continues asking, that person will receive. If a person continues looking, that person will find. And if a person continues knocking, the door will open for that person.Matthew 7:7-8

Loving Father, our Almighty God, I open my life to you. You are welcome here. Come and draw near. Change me at your will. I long to be your child -- not just in name, but also in closeness and in character. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians 3:14

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father,… That is, pray unto him for the perseverance of the saints; for nothing is more desirable to the ministers of Christ than that; which is the pure gift of God, and is what he has promised, and therefore should be prayed to for it; for what God has designed and promised to his people, he will be sought to; and the apostle's view might be also to stir up these saints to pray for themselves: the gesture he used in prayer was bowing the knees; a man is not tied to any particular gesture or posture in prayer, the main thing is the heart; mere postures and gestures are insignificant things with God; though where the mind is affected, the body will be moved; and this gesture may be expressive of reverence, humility, and submission in prayer: the object he prayed unto is the Father; that is, as follows,

of our Lord Jesus; though these words are wanting in the Alexandrian copy, and Ethiopic version, yet are rightly retained in others; for God is the Father of Christ, not by creation, nor adoption, but by generation, being the only begotten of the Father; and as such he is rightly prayed to, since not only Christ prayed to him as such; but he is the Father of his people in and through Christ; and there is no other way of coming to him but by Christ; and all spiritual blessings come though Christ, and from God, as the Father of Christ.

Hi all, don't get here often, fighting CPS over our grandchildren, say a prayer for their safe return as in the last hearing C/Y admitted that they NEVER filed any charges against my daughter, and that they stoped services because my daughter will not admitt to doing any thing wrong, the oldest grand child ran away from the so called foster parent because of all the abuse, she was 18 at the time and C/Y put out a bench warent on her to get her back into coustody so that she could not get on the stand, she did and told the judge that all of them were taken over FALSE charges, Family court is a JOKE, we are filing in Fed court very soon, ask God to step in and stop this abuse from C/Y.
