Sarah Palin Is Right: Go on Offense, Tout Conservatism

SARAH PALIN IS RIGHT Forty years ago when my Aunt Nee was the pastor of the Holy Temple Church of Truth, an east Baltimore storefront, during testimony service Sister Davis or Sister Cleary would spontaneously lead the tiny congregation in singing, “We're Livin' In the Last Days.” “They're calling wrong right. They're calling right wrong. Surely, we're livin' in the last days!”

As I listened to…

Sarah Palin Too Toxic for 2016?

SARAH PALIN READY FOR HILLARY Sarah Palin saying “Of course” she's interested regarding running for the presidency in 2016 has people buzzing.  During that interview, Palin said we need a candidate who is ready for Hillary. I agree. Romney would be Mr. Nice Guy/gentleman unwilling to attack the…

A LETTER FROM PROCTER AND GAMBLE EXECUTIVE TO THE PRESIDENT* THE LAST SENTENCE IS THE MOST CHILLING

Stent to me from a very good friend that I trust, but regardless, the words must and should be read by all.

Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Wilson's Message for Tea Party

I confess. With 5 minutes left in the championship game, Russell Wilson's third interception and Seattle two touchdowns behind, I turned the channel assuming Green Bay won. Upon turning back to the game, I was shocked to see Seattle ahead by one point. Seattle ultimately won the game in overtime and is going to the Superbowl. During his post game interview, Wilson said despite 3 interceptions and the score, they simply kept fighting.…

Obama's SOTU

Obama's SOTU sounded more like a campaign speech. Does he still not understand that he cannot serve more than two terms as President.. Instead of improving our economy he has destroyed it!!!! He spoke about how he had lowered our debt. I guess he has trouble with mathematics. He has increased our debt more than all previous Presidents combined!!! He told so many lies that I almost puked!!! He was 10 minutes late.  typical  narcissist that he is he wanted to make a GRAND entry. I wonder if he…

The state of the union!!

I don't know whether I will listen to Obama's speech tonight or not. I know it will be one lie after another one. The books have been cooked. He will lie about our debt and our economy. Our true debt is 18 Trillion plus 129 Trillion in unfunded liabilities He will not mention how many workers are still  out of jobs. He won't mention how many families are on food stamps. He also will neglect to say that Obamacare  has been a total failure and that signing up for it is asking for your identity…

A New Year: Why Mr President, Why?

Happy New Year my fellow Americans. Getting my butt back into the gym is my New Year Resolution. I saw a guy I thought was around my age who looked fantastic, very muscular. He said he was 57; his secret was protein and creatine supplements.

As I begin 2015, another year into the battle to save my country, I observe the daily news thinking, “Same old, same old.” President Obama continues to, in essence, give…

On October 16, 1859, John Brown and 18 men took over the Harpers Ferry Armory, in northern Virginia (now West Virginia).  His intention was to seize the arms and get them to slaves in the South so that they could rise up against their masters, and kill them.  Brown's effort was cut short when he was captured on…

Ten Commandments of Human Relations

The fundamental issue in human ethical behavior is summarized by Jesus in what we have come to call "The Golden Rule." Jesus put it this way:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 7:12 TNIV).

It asks us to test our treatment of others by putting ourselves in their place. Treat others the way you would want them to treat you in the same or similar circumstance.

Somebody took that principle and translated it into Ten Commandments of Human Relations. You may have seen this anonymous piece, for it circulates in a variety of settings. In case you have missed it, I am reproducing it here.

Speak to people. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.

Call people by name. It is music to anyone’s ears to hear the sound of his or her name.

Be friendly and helpful.

Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure. If it isn’t, learn to make it so.

Be genuinely interested in people. You can like almost anyone, if you try.

Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.

Be considerate of the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy — yours, the other fellow’s, and the correct one.

Be alert to serve. What counts most in life is what you do for others.

Live with a good sense of humor, a generous dose of patience, and a dash of humility appropriate to being human.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued!

The great challenge in human experience is not work skills, but people skills. That is, research has shown that the majority of people who fail in their vocation do so because they cannot get along with people.

You might think through the meaning of these ten common-sense ideas for your own workplace and personal activity. But what about the larger setting for your daily life? These principles work everywhere you go, for they are about showing respect to the people you meet in all those places.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued, affirmed, and acknowledged by others. But let it begin with us to acknowledge it in them. As the cycle of giving and receiving enlarges, the human community comes alive.
