RUSSIAN ATTACK SUBS ON EAST COAST AS SEQUESTRATION LOOMS

Defense: The fruit of unilateral disarmament, appeasement and promised  "flexibility" patrols our East Coast near one of our largest ballistic missile  submarine bases. Defense cuts and Russian subs — a double whammy.

OBAMA SEIZING FULL AUTHORITY FOR U.S. DEFENSE

In an attempt to seize total control over national security and bypass congress, a frightening new step by the Obama Administration is coming into play. As noted in Friday’s Wall Street Journal in an op-ed by John Bolton and John Woo, a State Department advisory group that is run by former Secretary of Defense William Perry is advising that the U.S. and…

Are you as tired of Obama as I am???

I knew the first time I saw Obama on TV that he was a born liar. He said his father had served in WWII. I knew he was lying because his father was 6 years old when it started and his stepfather was 5 years old. We know very little about Obama or his education because he has spent millions sealing all of his records. From age 6 he was essentially raised in Hiwaii by his maternal grandparents who were card carrying Communists. So he was exposed to communism for severalyears. I won't say he is…

VETS DIE WAITING FOR DISABILITY CLAIMS TO BE PROCESSED

While Obama runs up the greatest debt in the history of the nation, intruding the government into more and more areas of life, and spends more time campaigning then governing, Obama remains either unwilling or unable to order, direct, command, or execute the laws providing that those who served the nation in military service and suffer injury and health problems thereby, shall have fulfilled to them the…

Have you ever been happy you are old and not in good health??

I'm both, I'm 82 and have type 2 diabetes and idiopathic myocardiopathy. My heart catherization shows several 50 t0 75% artery blockages. In other words I'm an "accident" just waiting to happen. Am I sad about this? Not really, I've had a good life, a great wife, a family that loves me. But there are things that greatly disturb me. I've seen too many humans lose their morals and their humanity. I've seen my beloved America go from being a republic to an Ineptrocacy under Obama then to a…

LAME DUCK SESSION WILL EFFECT FUTURE OF MEDICINE

Congress’ lame-duck session is forcing lawmakers to make important decisions affecting the future of medicine before a new Congress convenes in 2013.

Tough decisions will have to be made, but the AMA’s position is clear: Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle must make stopping a 26.5 percent cut to Medicare physician payments, driven by the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and scheduled for Jan. 1, a top priority. They also must put in place a transition to a…

MORTON MEMO MAKES IT HARDER TO DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

Memo, unleashed during the holiday season. This is just the latest in a series of enforcement-sabotaging memos from ICE chief John Morton. Morton memo will make it more difficult for local police to detain illegal alien criminal suspects through the 287(g) deportation program. The directive states that “three or more convictions for minor traffic misdemeanors or other relatively minor misdemeanors alone should not trigger a detainer unless the convictions reflect a clear and…

Ten Commandments of Human Relations

The fundamental issue in human ethical behavior is summarized by Jesus in what we have come to call "The Golden Rule." Jesus put it this way:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 7:12 TNIV).

It asks us to test our treatment of others by putting ourselves in their place. Treat others the way you would want them to treat you in the same or similar circumstance.

Somebody took that principle and translated it into Ten Commandments of Human Relations. You may have seen this anonymous piece, for it circulates in a variety of settings. In case you have missed it, I am reproducing it here.

Speak to people. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.

Call people by name. It is music to anyone’s ears to hear the sound of his or her name.

Be friendly and helpful.

Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure. If it isn’t, learn to make it so.

Be genuinely interested in people. You can like almost anyone, if you try.

Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.

Be considerate of the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy — yours, the other fellow’s, and the correct one.

Be alert to serve. What counts most in life is what you do for others.

Live with a good sense of humor, a generous dose of patience, and a dash of humility appropriate to being human.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued!

The great challenge in human experience is not work skills, but people skills. That is, research has shown that the majority of people who fail in their vocation do so because they cannot get along with people.

You might think through the meaning of these ten common-sense ideas for your own workplace and personal activity. But what about the larger setting for your daily life? These principles work everywhere you go, for they are about showing respect to the people you meet in all those places.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued, affirmed, and acknowledged by others. But let it begin with us to acknowledge it in them. As the cycle of giving and receiving enlarges, the human community comes alive.
