What Are We Saved From?

Romans 6:6,15-16 says,

“6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

The Set Apart Desire For Him

The Holy Ghost declares in Isaiah 5:20-23, 20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22  Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle…

A Disciplined Follower Of Christ

Philippians 3:7 says, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ”. We must come to realize that things that seem to be of profit to us pale in comparison to the unsearchable riches of Christ. Colossians 2:3 says, “In Whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”. Proverbs 16:16 says, “How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen…

Going From Strength To Strength

Psalms 84:4-7 says, “4 Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house: they will be still praising Thee. Selah. 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. 6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God”. Isaiah 40:31

says, “But they that wait upon…

Complete In Him

Colossians 2:9-10, and 15 says, “9 For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power: 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”. Child of the living God, we…

Walking Out Who We Are

First Peter 2:9 says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light”. We, as born again believers in Jesus Christ, are chosen, royal, holy, peculiar, and ones who show forth His praises.

A Chosen Generation

The Apple Of His Eye

Great is His faithfulness. He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If He said it, you and I can bank on it. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is with us always even to the end of the world. He which has begun a good work in us will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. His promises are yes and Amen in Christ Jesus. So, let us be strong and be bold, for the Lord our God is with us. He will never suffer the righteous to be moved. You and I are the apple…

Ten Commandments of Human Relations

The fundamental issue in human ethical behavior is summarized by Jesus in what we have come to call "The Golden Rule." Jesus put it this way:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 7:12 TNIV).

It asks us to test our treatment of others by putting ourselves in their place. Treat others the way you would want them to treat you in the same or similar circumstance.

Somebody took that principle and translated it into Ten Commandments of Human Relations. You may have seen this anonymous piece, for it circulates in a variety of settings. In case you have missed it, I am reproducing it here.

Speak to people. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.

Call people by name. It is music to anyone’s ears to hear the sound of his or her name.

Be friendly and helpful.

Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure. If it isn’t, learn to make it so.

Be genuinely interested in people. You can like almost anyone, if you try.

Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.

Be considerate of the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy — yours, the other fellow’s, and the correct one.

Be alert to serve. What counts most in life is what you do for others.

Live with a good sense of humor, a generous dose of patience, and a dash of humility appropriate to being human.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued!

The great challenge in human experience is not work skills, but people skills. That is, research has shown that the majority of people who fail in their vocation do so because they cannot get along with people.

You might think through the meaning of these ten common-sense ideas for your own workplace and personal activity. But what about the larger setting for your daily life? These principles work everywhere you go, for they are about showing respect to the people you meet in all those places.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued, affirmed, and acknowledged by others. But let it begin with us to acknowledge it in them. As the cycle of giving and receiving enlarges, the human community comes alive.
