For Which We Stand

United We Stand Stronger As Americans

I'll try not to be so controversial in this blog, but then I'm writing this one myself, so anyone who doesn't like the spelling or grammar, you can go jump off a cliff.  With that said I'll explain the title of this blog post.  A few weeks ago our 912 group here in Fort Worth had a speaker named Tim Cox. Tim is and ex Dell engineer and has started a grassroots organization called GOOOH, pronounced go, stands for Get Out Of Our House.  Some of you may have been to the website, I know I visited it over a year ago, but wasn't really sure what it was or how it was any different from any other of the numerous organizations that I was signing up for daily to try and stop the insanity of D.C.  Tim has come up with a plan to replace every single member of Congress, and wants to do just that.  It's a non-partisan plan, so it includes everyone. Now before you start balking, you don't want to work with any libtards and clicking off of this, listen to me. You probably won't work with any liberals.  He is attacking this District by District and we all know that Districts are mapped out to be of benefit of the person who is in office there, we know that Nancy Pelosi's District will vote Democrat, it's designed that way, just as we know here in Texas that Kay Granger's District will vote Republican.  With that in mind this is how we run the candidates, Republicans in Republican districts and Democrats in Democratic districts.  This way we don't try to take over with a third party candidate, or try to create a third party, let's face it we are all Americans.  Now the way this system works is he is looking for members in each district and each member needs to be willing if chosen to be the candidate and be elected to go to Congress.  You first log into the website at and sign up, then you'll take a questionnaire with around 100 questions on it.  Each district will have a leader, and if there isn't one you are encouraged to become that leader.  The leaders work with other volunteers and canvass places like Gun Shows, Fairs, places where there are a lot of people and hand out flyers and talk to people. You'll be surprised how if you take the partisanship out of politics people seem to agree, something is broken and we need to get back to where we were once.  Now granted you probably aren't going to convert any ACORN members, but you will get Democrats that remember when the Democratic party actually stood for something instead of Communism.  Anyway after we get enough members in a District that have signed up and filled out the questionnaire, we have a candidate selection meeting.  This meeting is somewhat like speed dating, let's say you have a thousand members in a district. These thousand people will meet and split into groups of 10 each. In the group of 10 everyone will have a couple of minutes to introduce themselves, and speak on what they believe and how they would serve if elected. Then you get 5 minutes with each of the people individually to talk and interview.  After everyone has spoken to each other you get together in a group and vote for the person you would like to see in that group run for office.  Those people selected from those groups will then divide into groups of 10 again and the process continues, and again, until at the end you have 1 person who everyone agrees is the right person to run for and be elected to office.  Everyone has to sign a pledge promising to represent the people, not to make a career out of the job, and to be honest.  I participated last night in a mock candidate session over the phone and I've never been part of anything more enjoyable.  Everyone I spoke to had our values.  They all believed that the country was going the wrong direction and that we needed to get back to God and the Constitution.  Now once Gooh has selected the people that will run they ask only that every member contribute $100, that's it, no more, no less.  That money they'll use to do National advertising and they claim they can get 50 million members that way by November.  You may think that this is just another gimmick and is not for you, but I ask you, I beg you, I challenge you to sign up fill out the questionnaire and at least take part in one of the mock phone meetings....I really think everyone will agree with me that this is a way we could actually take the house back and actually elect the people we want to be in office instead of the same old...picking the lessor of two evils.  Look around, who is really running for office that you totally support 100% and feel like is the greatest selection you could pick.  If there is one, I promise there are only one or two...I'm tired of having that selection.  How about you?

Nan, the whole thing about it is goooh doesn't create a third candidate, there is no third party, they look and see how the district is mapped out and how what party it's mapped out for and that's how they run in that district, if the district historically elects a libertarian then that's how they run. It has nothing to do with parties, it has to do with the issues and how to handle them in a constitutional, honest way that coincides with what your constituents want. I suggest you go take the questionnaire and then take part in one of the mock selection processes over the phone, it makes more sense then.

Do you think a Gooh candidate has a better chance than a Libertarian?  Just wondering. . . .

I am also a member of this group.  After reading their game plan, I have to agree that the method they have outlined has the best chance of winning.  There simply isn't enough time or money to turn the tide to making the Tea Party a viable 3rd party on the scale necessary to take back our government.  Don't get me wrong, I fully back the Tea Party, but with all the hate mongering against the Tea Party,  using traditional voting patterns (and the laziness of some people) would be much more effective plan of attack.  I know far too many people that blindly vote for a party simply because they always have and most of them always will.

"Nation Under God Shall Have A New Birth Of Freedom."

I pledge allegiance to the Flag,
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
One Nation, under God
Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.

Ten Commandments of Human Relations

The fundamental issue in human ethical behavior is summarized by Jesus in what we have come to call "The Golden Rule." Jesus put it this way:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 7:12 TNIV).

It asks us to test our treatment of others by putting ourselves in their place. Treat others the way you would want them to treat you in the same or similar circumstance.

Somebody took that principle and translated it into Ten Commandments of Human Relations. You may have seen this anonymous piece, for it circulates in a variety of settings. In case you have missed it, I am reproducing it here.

Speak to people. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.

Call people by name. It is music to anyone’s ears to hear the sound of his or her name.

Be friendly and helpful.

Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure. If it isn’t, learn to make it so.

Be genuinely interested in people. You can like almost anyone, if you try.

Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.

Be considerate of the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy — yours, the other fellow’s, and the correct one.

Be alert to serve. What counts most in life is what you do for others.

Live with a good sense of humor, a generous dose of patience, and a dash of humility appropriate to being human.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued!

The great challenge in human experience is not work skills, but people skills. That is, research has shown that the majority of people who fail in their vocation do so because they cannot get along with people.

You might think through the meaning of these ten common-sense ideas for your own workplace and personal activity. But what about the larger setting for your daily life? These principles work everywhere you go, for they are about showing respect to the people you meet in all those places.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued, affirmed, and acknowledged by others. But let it begin with us to acknowledge it in them. As the cycle of giving and receiving enlarges, the human community comes alive.
