Thank God Mr Cruz is in Washington

Ted Cruz McConnell Lied 2015

My email account was on fire, everyone excited about Sen Ted Cruz calling Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell a liar on the Senate floor. Cruz cited each of Obama's unprecedented unlawful power grabs and repeals of our freedoms that the GOP promised to block, only to stab us (We the…

A Golden Nugget Hidden in the Trump Spectacle.

NEW YORK - MAY 10: Donald Trump attends "The Celebrity Apprentice" season finale at the at American Museum of Natural History on May 10, 2009 in New York City. (Photo by Brad Barket/Getty Images)

I know. I know. As a veteran political activist, I am suppose to be extremely upset with Donald Trump, out there saying what some on both sides of the political aisle consider to be outrageous things.

But folks, I cannot help myself. It is thrilling to watch someone in the arena of ideas not playing the game…

Confederate Soldiers are American Veterans by Act of Congress

April is Confederate Memorial Month where various commemorations held throughout the month, primarily in the South. In the other states I would venture to say that most have never even heard of it, a combination performance of historical revisionism, political correctness, and…

This is my country too!

This is my country too.

I was lucky; I had a good father and mother who believed in “God and Country”. Unlike so many in this world, life for me was one of growing up loving not just my family, but the great country that allowed me to be free and able to choose what life I…

Sept. 21, 1778 - Frenchman Sartine to Vergennes ( U. S. and the Barbary Powers )

Do the Unuied States wish to conclude treaties with the Barbary powers, or do they wish merely that our influence should be exerted to make their flag respected by those powers? In the latter case we should never succeed;…

The Horse "America" Throwng King George the 3rd.

We Must Rally Behind the Kleins

Sorry folks, I just can not let this go. Every fiber of my being screams out in outrage. I don't know what to do, but We the People must do something! Our side is composed of Conservatives, Christians and true patriots with brilliant minds. Surely, we can come up with a solution to defeat a handful of evil Leftist arrogant tyrannical bullying Oregon government…

America's Trump Card Trumping the Left

Donald Trump

Catching bits of the news, my wife asked, “Did Donald Trump say something against Mexicans?” I replied, “No, Trump simply dared to state statistical facts exposing the high criminal element among the illegals flooding across our border.” I've read horrific articles about the torture, rape and murder of Mexican women and children during their …

North Carolina Church Flies ‘Christian Flag’ Above US Flag Saying: ‘God Is First’

Is this a good idea? A church in North Carolina has just raised the “Christian flag” above the American flag. It may not be a good idea but it certainly is an example of a backlash to Obama’s crusade to destroy Christianity in America today.

First of all, the…

Ten Commandments of Human Relations

The fundamental issue in human ethical behavior is summarized by Jesus in what we have come to call "The Golden Rule." Jesus put it this way:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 7:12 TNIV).

It asks us to test our treatment of others by putting ourselves in their place. Treat others the way you would want them to treat you in the same or similar circumstance.

Somebody took that principle and translated it into Ten Commandments of Human Relations. You may have seen this anonymous piece, for it circulates in a variety of settings. In case you have missed it, I am reproducing it here.

Speak to people. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.

Call people by name. It is music to anyone’s ears to hear the sound of his or her name.

Be friendly and helpful.

Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure. If it isn’t, learn to make it so.

Be genuinely interested in people. You can like almost anyone, if you try.

Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.

Be considerate of the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy — yours, the other fellow’s, and the correct one.

Be alert to serve. What counts most in life is what you do for others.

Live with a good sense of humor, a generous dose of patience, and a dash of humility appropriate to being human.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued!

The great challenge in human experience is not work skills, but people skills. That is, research has shown that the majority of people who fail in their vocation do so because they cannot get along with people.

You might think through the meaning of these ten common-sense ideas for your own workplace and personal activity. But what about the larger setting for your daily life? These principles work everywhere you go, for they are about showing respect to the people you meet in all those places.

Made in God’s image, all of us have something to be valued, affirmed, and acknowledged by others. But let it begin with us to acknowledge it in them. As the cycle of giving and receiving enlarges, the human community comes alive.
